A photocopiable activity book based on "Clockwork" which has an intricately plotted narrative, a reworking of the Faust myth. Children can respond to the book on many levels: the interspersed illustrations and captions, technical information and historical background, as well as the central plot with its themes of retribution and morality. The book, which is one of a series, aims to help teachers organize tasks which introduce children to a range of specific key reading skills as outlined in the reading PoS. It is designed to deepen children's understanding of popular and well-written books by significant authors. The activities are intended to encourage children to think critically, justify preferences and discuss viewpoints other than their own about the books they read.
