Joshua Slocum was probably the most legendary sailor of all time. This edition of his writings, reissued to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Slocum's singlehanded voyage around the world, includes the saga "Sailing Alone Around the World", the story of Slocum's solo voyage, "The Voyage of the Liberdale" and "The Voyage of the Destroyer". In addition Slocum's "Rescue of Some Gilbert Islanders" and his private correspondence about the "Aquidneck" disaster are included. The editor has added an introduction and extensive annotations to the text.
