Nitrate and Nitrite in Drinking Water has been prepared under the auspices of WHO. In updating the WHO Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality it was agreed that there was an urgent need for an authoritative source of information on nitrate and nitrite in drinking water. The focus of the coverage is source protection of drinking water although water treatment processes for reducing nitrate concentrations are also covered.
