This book supports trainee and newly qualified teachers in developing their understanding of assessment - one of the most difficult fields of professional practice - and specialises in Key Stages 1 and 2. Practical tasks enable teachers to rehearse a range of valuable skills, while readers will also consider the role of self-assessment, both in the appraisal of children's learning and in setting targets for future teaching and learning. In addition, the book suggests methods for evaluating the range and purpose of different forms of record keeping.
Primary languages are to be an entitlement for all pupils in KS2 from 2010. There is therefore a need to ensure that trainee primary teachers are equipped with the required skills, knowledge and understanding to contribute to this process. This book supports specialists, and also non-specialist trainees with an interest in MFL, who may need to deliver languages across the curriculum, providing them with a clear understanding of the methodology and helping them to develop linguistic competence and confidence.
