People Who Help Us

by Bentley and Diana

Published 31 January 1990
This series introduces children to people who help the community through the jobs that they perform. Each book focuses on an individual member of the featured public or emergency service, and uses their experiences to illustrate the importance of their role. The author focuses on those experiences which are most relevant to the young reader. This book is about Bob, a community police officer, and the jobs he and his colleagues perform during their working day. A series of linked incidents provide information on the way a policeman's day is organized. They look at mounted patrols, traffic duty, criminal procedures and community involvement. There is a dual-level text to help younger or less able readers. Alison Cooper is an editor of children's information books. Diana Bentley is a language consultant who has also written a number of children's books.
