This titles is a thorough introduction to cursive writing. The approach is based on - the importance of developing good writing habits from the earliest stages and the proven value of linking cursive writing with frequently occurring spelling patterns. Eight pages of tracing paper are included for extra practice. The "Parent point" on every spread explains the purpose of each activity at the point at which the child does the exercise. There is a "Skills checklist" at the back of the book. The book offers guidelines for left-handed children.
This title gives number practice in and around the context of a town - Addington. The characters who live there - Nicky Number, George Guess and Charlie Check, Mr Minus (who runs the take-away shop), Timothy Tens and Ursula Unites help to reinforce and extend skills learned in the "Learn Numbers" book. Number-based skills are central to National Curriculum maths, and should form a part of skills being tested for children aged seven. Special features include: the "Parent point", which is on every spread to explain the purpose of each activity at the point at which the child does the exercise, with lots of ideas for things to do at home to practise maths skills; and the "Skills checklist" is at the back of the book.
