Ever since Star Trek first aired on television in 1966, it has had a strong influence on pop culture. In fact, Trekkies ushered in the era of fandom, which has its roots in the very first comic book and sci-fi/fantasy conventions that began in 1969—the same year Star Trek went off the air. In 1976, due to the show’s ongoing popularity in syndication, Topps released the first full-colour collectible Star Trek trading card series featuring images from the classic television series, biographical information on the cast and characters, episode synopses, as well as behind-the-scenes photos exclusive to the card series. This book includes the fronts and backs of all 88 Star Trek trading cards as well as a complete set of “chase cards”—the 22 rare and hard-to-find stickers which were originally sold one per pack—all of which now sell for hundreds of pounds on eBay. This latest addition to our Topps series is guaranteed to please die-hard Star Trek fans and collectors and appeal to a whole new generation of fans.
