Building societies are at the forefront of the enormous changes and challenges taking place in industry. In particular the competitive environment has intensified dramatically on both sides of the balance sheet, and this intensification of competition has resulted in a number of significant and fundamental changes in the regulatory framework and competitive environment within which building societies operate.
