Newly indentured young woman, Josephine finds herself aboard a seventeenth century ship bound for America. Suddenly she is the servant of a young English lord: Adrian Monroe. When pirates leave the ship crippled and devoid of half the crew and passengers, Jo finds herself working as a common seaman. The storm that adds to the ship's damage also polutes most of the remaining food, causing Jo and her fellow passengers and crew alike to simply fight for survival. Only her faith in God sustains her. Her growing affection for her new master convinces her that when the wind and waves lead home, life will never be the same.
