Nowadays, three-phase drives are widely used across industry for variable-speed applications. However, numerous new electric drive applications are looking at use of machines with more than three phases, for the reasons of reduced required inverter per-phase power rating, improved fault tolerance, etc. This book brings together the existing knowledge related multiphase inverter-supplied drive systems with sinusoidal magneto-motive force distribution in a unified manner. Additionally, it includes a complete overview of machine modeling procedure and resulting models for an arbitrary number of phases.
