Guide to Project Management

This guide describes how to manage a project and how to ensure that the whole organisation can contribute to its success. It will be of interest to a wide audience and of particular value to project managers and project team leaders as well as the senior managers responsible for new and continuing projects.
. Project management is too often considered to be work done only by those called "project managers".
. Responsibility is delegated to individuals who struggle against sometimes impossible odds to bring about a successful outcome.
. Yet experience demonstrates that any project requires the collaboration of a great many people, including those who commission the project, those who finance it, those who carry it out and those who use the end product.
. All of those who have a stake in the success of the project must play their part with skill, sensitivity and, if the investment in the project is to pay off, with a clear understanding of the roles of the others involved and what together they are seeking to achieve.
