A new edition (and its French translation) of the oldest known Decretale. The commentary demonstrates the originality of the arguments leading to decisions concerning the blessed virgins and the ecclesiastical hierarchy. This answer to the bishops of Gaul could be the making of Jerome, personal assistant to Pope Damasus between 382 and 384.
