This book contains 1000 ideas, to help non-specialist teachers develop projects in elementary science and technology with primary school children. Its ultimate aim is to assist infants and juniors to practice, in addition to their other capabilities, the skills of being "simple scientists". Secondary aims are to provide the teacher with descriptions of primary science in action, to express a theory and philosophy appropriate for primary science teaching at this time, to give advice on organizing scientific studies in a planned curriculum, and to encourage a sense of wonder about nature in a secular age. Alan Ward is a freelance presenter of science "happenings" to schools, an organizer of in-service science courses for teachers and a consultant on primary science and technology education.
