This text covers the nature of energy, including transfer and control, and looks at the range of energy sources and the issues involved in their exploitation. The first section is divided into double-page spreads to introduce varying concepts. Related questions and short activities encourage students to develop an understanding of these ideas, often using the skills required by the Attainment Target 1 - the exploration of science. The second part consists of longer, more varied activities through which students can develop their skills and understanding more fully. All aspects of the topic are considered in the context of their social, environmental, economic and technological implications. "Science Scene" is a series of books which provide a flexible resource for students at Key Stage 3 of the National Curriculum, covering the knowledge and understanding specified in Attainment Target 13 - Energy - for England and Wales.
