One of the major needs facing the churches today is the education of its members in the faith they profess. Beneath the arguments dividing the Church, in places very deeply, is a widespread inability to read scripture other than superficially, or to recognise that other viewpoints may also have validity and a long pedigree in Christian thought. These booklets, by experienced teachers of theology, aim to inform Christians systematically about aspects of doctrine and current issues, so that they may think, act and face the intellectual challenges of the age with greater confidence.

Each short booklet includes a brief historical survey of its subject to show how understanding has developed over 20 Christian centuries and the range of theological viewpoints about any given subject is represented.
