In this essay Thomas Moore examines the impending failure of democracy and freedom in Central Europe. The stagnation, deteriorating economies, and lack of opportunites in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia are likely to produce the most massive illegal immigration the world has ever seen, an exodus of crisis porportions. Only a successful reform of these economies can stave off this tragedy.
