The "Irish Scientists and Inventors" series of colour-illustrated books introduces modern science to young minds. Using examples from the lives and achievements of Irish scientists and inventors, the books explore some of the principles behind geology, biology, physics, engineering, astronomy and medicine, and suggest activities to stimulate hands-on experience of practical science at primary level. Specially designed to meet the requirements of the Northern Ireland Science Curriculum at Key Stage 2, this title looks at Hans Sloane's work in biology and medicine. The books provide explanations and projects for both group and individual work. The publication of the five books are accompanied by the Channel 4 "Irish Scientists and Inventors" series, broadcasted in May-June 1995. The books may be purchased either individually or as class sets (discounts available).
