This is an adaptation of "Introduction to SQA and its Implementation". Sections previously relevant to the professional reader are replaced by student-oriented features, such as self-assessment questions, bullet-point summaries and further reading sections. Also new to this version is a chapter on software metrics, plus further sections on costing, estimating and motivation. The process modelling chapter has also been expanded to reflect the developments that have occured since 1993.
This work considers the international standard ISO 9001 and its implications for software quality assurance. Beginning with a clear introduction to quality and to the ISO 9000 series, the work goes on to examine in depth one particular facet of the standard in each chapter. In each case, the section is discussed generally, its relevance to software development is highlighted, typical errors and problems are described and a set of checks is provided.
