Adventures in Music

Published April 1990

"Opera" introduces pupils to the music and songs of a variety of different operas. A synopsis of the plot, a closer look at some of the music and songs as well as many illustrations, games and quizzes aim to make this introduction to the world of opera exciting and interesting. This cassette accompanies the text book and includes all the music featured in the book. The book contains six units, each dealing with one main opera in detail, and a second opera in brief. A close look at the story and plentiful illustrations aim to bring the operas "to life", and at least one musical item from each opera is included. The author's own translations of the words are used instead of the usual "music charts" and two pages of "follow-up" present musical activities which involve listening, performing, and occasionally composing. Photos of famous opera singers, and backstage scenes are included.

This cassette contains all the music featured in the book Opera and provides specific examples of key opera composers, contributing towards pupils' knowledge of the historical development of music.
