Book 2
The Flying Dutchman was wrecked off the coast of South America - its crew trapped in an eternity of misery. Only Ben and his dog, Ned escaped to wander the world, never ageing, moving on to new missions by the toll of the ship's bell. However, now the evil Captain Vanderdecken wants them back.

Continuing their adventures through space and time, Ben and his faithful dog, Ned, find themselves in the Mediterranean region in 1703, befriended by a troupe of traveling entertainers and relentlessly pursued by ruthless Barbary slave traders.
