Abby and Tess pet-sit Prissy, Ms. Fitzpatrick's Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. When strange things start to happen around Ms. Fitzpatrick's house, Tess claims that Prissy wields magical powers. Abby thinks Tess is full of hogwash and is determined to find a logical explanation, but as things go from weird to weirder, even Abby begins to wonder.
Abby's teacher has asked her to pet-sit Mr. Nibbles, the class hamster, over spring break, but her apartment building has a rule against owning pets. After solving that problem, Abby is disappointed that Mr. Nibbles likes Tess better than her. Then Rachel arrives and things go from bad to worse.
Abby is annoyed that she not only has to be on irritating Dirk's team for the Crazy Olympics, but she also has to pet-sit his ant farm over the weekend.
Abby and her little sister Tess spend a week at their grandmother's farm, where Abby has her own room and helps care for the goats, while Tess finds her own secrets.
