This book provides an introduction by Fulvio Ferrari. For the first time, Carlo Mollino's book "Message from the Darkroom" is being published in English. This is the only text in which Mollino, renowned Italian architect, designer, writer and photographer, expresses his views on photography. This publication is one of the most important contributions to the acceptance of photography among the higher arts, an acknowledgment that was unusual in an era in which photography was considered a purely mechanical, endlessly reproducible medium. Mollino traces a history of the medium and of the evolution of taste, highlighting the work of Nadar, Man Ray, Atget, and others.
