Social & Cultural Values in Early Modern Europe S.
1 total work
This volume tackles the problem of the role of religion in the shaping of early modern Ireland. It identifies the commonalities of religious thought and the differences between confessional groups. The result was an irrevocable intertwining of immanence and transcendence which shaped everyday life. Cultural and confessional frameworks shaped reactions to religious experiences such as the miraculous and pilgrimage, prophecy and prayer.
