The series is based on an earlier one entitled "Conserving Our World". Each book has been shortened and simplified with the intention of appealing to primary school children and meeting the special needs of secondary school children with reading difficulties. The texts have been checked by a language consultant. This book focuses on what is happening to the atmosphere and what can be done to protect it.

It discusses the importance and riches of the oceans, examines some of the threats which are facing them, and suggest ways of protecting them.
