The concept of the Super Wing - the reorganization of the US Air Force into composite wings with fighter, bomber, electronic warfare, AWACS and tanker units all controlled by a single, unified command structure - was put to the test in the Gulf War with devastating results. This text focuses upon one of the six Super Wings - the 365th of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. Photographer Jim Benson was given access to the base, and the images captured on sorties with the Mountain Home squadrons provide an insight into Cold War military hardware.
