This series is the non-fiction component of Oxford's popular infant reading scheme, "Oxford Reading Tree". It introduces non-fiction to infant children, and focuses on developing the information retrieval and handling skills they need. The series encompasses a whole range of genres, illustration styles and subject focuses. Unit A supports National Curriculum science, technology, and history, as well as developing reading skills and demonstrating different styles of non-fiction writing.

Here are six more of the popular Owls Storybooks, this time at Stage 7, to aid the transition to the more complex Magpie Storybooks, and the Robins and Jackdaws branches. Five out of the six are magic key stories, taking the children to Ancient Rome, Imperial China, England during the Civil War, America in the Gold Rush, and a modern school playground. In "The Motorway", Biff and Chip become involved in conservation.

The "Owls Storybooks" provide a continuation of the "magic key" stories at Stage 5. They offer carefully controlled sentence structure and encourage prediction through closely linked text and illustrations. This pack provides one copy of each of the six titles in "Big Book" format: "Land of the Dinosaurs", "In the Garden", "Kipper and the Giant", "The Outing", "Robin Hood" and "The Treasure Chest".

The "Rhyme and Analogy" series aims to support children's early rhyme and letter knowledge. Knowledge of commonly used rhymes can be used to recognize and read new words by the strategy of analogy. The story rhymes are built around a graded structure of rhyming words, with four clue rhymes being introduced in each story. The stories are lively and humorous and introduce the clue rhymes in a real reading context. They are supported by a teacher's guide and photocopiable resources, and are at the centre of the Rhyme and Analogy programme. Roderick Hunt is well known for his popular stories in the "Oxford Reading Tree", and Dr Usha Goswami leads research in this field.
