String Trio
for violin, viola, and cello This two movement work is dedicated to Richard Rodney Bennett, at one time Michael Berkeley's composition teacher. A three bar theme introduces the first movement which is worked almost entirely in step-by-step crotchets. The Allegro that follows is more spiky and angular but has a lyrical central passage in 3/8.
Fantasia on Sussex Folk Tunes

The five folk songs on which the work is founded are 'Salisbury Plain', 'The Long Whip', 'Low down in the broom', 'Bristol Town', and 'I've been to France'. Materials for the orchestral accompaniment are available on hire...
La Gora Di Mulino
La gora di mulino was commissioned for Chamber Music 2000. The Chamber Music 2000 works were designed to be technically easy, but still retain the composers own individuality and musical style. La gora di mulino means 'the mill-pond' and the mood of the piece is appropriately ruminative. The middle string part may be played by a second violin or a viola.
Of Three Shakespeare Sonnets
for mezzo-soprano soloist, with flute, clarinet, harp, 2 violins, viola, and cello Buller's chosen sonnets revolve around themes of love, sleeplessness, and the destruciton of time. While the other instruments use a single group of intervals to explore aspects of the Shakespearian sonnet form by musical analogy, the voice has more lyrical lines. Material is available on hire.
These books contain characterful and approachable original compositions for violin and piano. Within each is a contrast of styles and moods, indicated by the descriptive titles, and imaginative and adventurous players will find plenty to test their technical and interpretational abilities.
