Covid 19 brought a lot of darkness into people’s lives, as we were thrown into unknown territory. It shed a big dark cloud over the whole world causing devastation and chaos. Working as a Ward Sister on the Respiratory Unit and isolating alone during lockdown, I escaped once again through my creative writing and my poetry.
Rainbows donated to the ward by children who had taken time to paint them, the colours brightening up a gloomy environment which put a smile on our faces, also gave us hope. It was a symbol and a sign, that things were going to get better.
As my role as a nurse grew tougher, my creative work shone brighter. I experienced a new journey into the world of production, film making, radio presenting, and acting. Which, if it weren’t for covid none of this would have happened.
Rainbows & Dreams an anthology of poems and a tribute, written before, during and after the pandemic. A book that symbolises strength, that even in your darkest times, there is still hope, you can still dream, and that some dreams really do come true.
