— I know this is a beloved classic and is still relevant even today. But while I liked some parts, I found majority of the book to be too much telling and less showing (which bored me to death).

I had to read this for school. I hated it. It's just depressing. Much like Handmaid's Tale. I get what it was trying to do but I hated it. (show spoiler)[ And the rat scene gives me nightmares. ]

George Orwell, que vino a España a luchar del lado de las Brigadas Internacionales, acabó descubriendo lo que significa el comunismo, en su versión soviética, y escribió obras maestras como Granja animal o 1984, que nos ocupa en estos momentos. La novela como tal no tiene gran complejidad; es el relato, y la certeza de que lo que nos está narrando está basado en la realidad, lo que la convierte en angustiosa. Hay cosas, como el Ministerio de la Verdad, que ahora se ha dado en llamar el Control del Relato, que siguen vigentes en nuestros tiempos. Y tantas otras. Orwell fue un visionario. Viene a cuento el inicio de un grandísimo artículo de Kiko Llaneras, hablando del fin y los medios.
