Garnet Flats continues Devney Perry's exciting Eden series. The third book and another fabulous addition to the series. In Garnet Falls, Perry gives her readers a delightful, gut-wrenching, angsty, small town second chance romance. This story took me on a journey that started out on with heartbreak but ended on a note of healing and restoration.
This installment gives us Talia Eden’s story, the doctor in the family. The end of book two (Juniper Hill) gave a sneak peek, which had me wondering at the reason for her actions.
Seven years ago, she had her heart shattered when the love of her life married her best friend. She tried to move on from the pain by focusing on her studies and achieving her dream of becoming a doctor. Now she’s back home fulfilling her dream. All is going well until Foster turned arrived in town looking to make amends.
Foster Madden is the reigning UFC middleweight champion. He moved from Las Vegas to Quincy, Montana, the town where his heart resides. He is hoping to build a quiet life and reconnect the woman held his heart in the palm of her hand. This will be the biggest fight of his life, but he has no plans to give up. There is no-one more determined than a man in love and Foster is definitely in love with Talia.
Foster is a wonderful person so his reasons for breaking Talia’s heart puzzled me. The question of why he did it played through my mind/ The revelation hit me hard. The decision was taken lightly, but I only wished he had been honest with Talia from the start. As much as I wanted Talia to forgive Foster, I understood her reluctance to reopen her heart to him. She never stopped loving him and her biggest fear was being hurt again. Foster’s determination is to be lauded. Despite all the caustic words she threw his way, he never backed down. This emotionally charged story kept me on toes. Anger, pain, angst, chemistry and love jumped off the pages. Seeing these two working their way back to each other was pure joy.Garnet Flats is a beautiful story of forgiveness, healing, sacrifices and love. A lovely read, which fans of small town romance will enjoy.
