Quirky Cat
Book Summary:
Julia is a stubborn detective. She promised herself long ago that she would never fall into the trappings of corruption. Of course, her promise failed to take real life into account, as there's no way to predict what forces one will be up again.
Currently, Julia is desperately trying to track down a missing woman, Olivia. Her last missing person case didn't go too well, and it still haunts Julia to this day. This case will be different. It has to be different.
My Review:
So, I really wanted to fall head over heels for Just Another Missing Person. And at first, I was pretty into it! I love the basic premise: a determined detective delving into a series of missing-person cases.
Unfortunately, this story had one major problem: it didn't know when to stop. There was mystery stacked upon mystery. By the end, there had to be at least half a dozen reveals and twists. It was too much!
By too much, I mean that not only did it completely remove it from the realm of believability, but it also ruined my immersion. I kept wondering why X character did that (it didn't fit their motivation) or why Y character even cared. There are too many layers and not enough insight into the thoughts behind those actions.
Just Another Missing Person will make for a decent and quick read. It simply wasn't my favorite thriller of the year.
