Help Me Remember served as my introduction to the magnificent writing of Corinne Michaels. In her latest novel, Michaels crafted a beautiful, suspenseful and captivating tale. Read on and learn the reason Help Me Remember should be on your summer reading list.
I rarely reread a book, no matter how much I enjoyed it. However, with Help Me Remember, I had an inexplicable urge to read it all over again.
This story took me on quite the emotional journey. It introduced me to awesome characters and delivered a romance that was heartbreaking and sweet. The story showed that even if your brain forgets the one you love, your heart will always remember the one you are with.
meant to be with.
It’s hard imagining losing one’s memory. I knew I would be frustrated trying to Remember and not being able to put the pieces together. This is exactly how Brielle felt. She had no memory of the last three years of her life. It was hard knowing her brother died, but what made it worse was learning she was the sole witness and she couldn’t remember what happened. Then she discovered she may have been engaged, but has no clue as to the identity of the mystery fiancée. Amid it all, adding to her confused state and complicating the situation further, she grew closer to her childhood crush.
Her friends and family rallied around her to trying to help in their own way without providing her any information about her past.
It warmed my heart watching how the romance unfolded. Though sometimes my heart broke for them as they both try to cope with the complexities of her memory loss. Told from the POVs of the main characters, one gains clarity regarding the characters’ mindset. One shares in their pain, frustrations, and every emotional turbulence they experience. Every aspect of the story had me on the edge of my seat. I wondered at Brielle’s reaction when her memory came back. Also, I wondered when the person responsible for her brother’s death would reappear.
A beautiful, gripping and emotional read, Help Me Remember is one of those stories where you can’t wait to see how it ends, but you wish it never does.
