A good time was had with this quick and charming story. It may not have blown me away, but it provided the perfect escape when I needed it most. Broken Sparrow is a combination of motorcycle and age gap romance. The hero (Morris) at 45 years is seventeen years older than the heroine (Alice).
Alice and her six-year-old daughter are on the run from her abusive ex-husband. During her getaway, she had a chance encounter with a tattooed, sexy biker at a gas station. He provided her with some financial help, which she reluctantly accepted and gave her his number in the event she needed further help. With no plans to use the number, she went along with her plan of escape. But when her car broke down on the highway, calling Morris was her only recourse.
Broken Sparrow reeked of insta love, which is not necessarily a bad thing. However, in this situation, I found it unrealistic given the circumstances. The heroine makes poor choices in men, while the hero wasn’t the settling down type. So for them to suddenly fall in love within a couple of days didn’t resonate with me. Aside from this, however, the story had aspects which I enjoyed. The biggest highlight for me was Alice’s ex getting what he rightly deserved. I loved Morris’s character, such a sweet soul. Calm when the situation calls for it, but fierce in protecting those he holds dear.
Overall, Broken Sparrow delivered a charming story, perfect for readers looking for a quick read and a temporary escape from reality. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
