Ben was alright - a bit too optimistic and happy for my tastes. I prefer my people more cynical. Wade was kind of an odd mash of hopeful and sad. I didn't really like him all that much. I wasn't a fan of his reasons for bullying. Although I recognise it takes strength to overcome your own insecurities and past behaviour and make amends. I just didn't love that it took him so long to actually step up.
There relationship was very instalove for all they had a long past. It was very instalove and happy and wholesome. The kind of book I have to be in a specific mood for or I end up picking apart the ridiculousness and stupidity. But I was, so it was good - just not great. Hence the 3 stars. It's an acceptable read with enough love and happiness to make me smile.
I loved Wade's mum and grandfather. They were hilarious. Their acceptance of Wade and Ben both separately and together was great - I liked the support they showed, support more people should give and have. The friends were nice - there were just way too many of them. I tended to just label them all as friends and let it go. I liked the advice they gave though - the advice about forgiveness and moving on was probably a hidden gem within this.
Overall 3 stars. Romantics will love it. The more cynical will need to be in the proper mindset to enjoy.
