Took me a bit to get into this book until the inciting incident when we finally get to Dragomir Academy, which in the audiobook is around 10%. I found it interesting that it felt slow to me when 10% is the usual inciting incident mark, but I think it's because it tends to happen sooner in middle grade novels to pull kids in and hold their attention. So I'm glad I kept reading because I got drawn into the mystery of the academy once we arrived! The story had a YA feel to it (obviously without romance) which I enjoyed, meaning these characters could've been 16 and I'd have been none the wiser. Love the greater themes of women's rights as well. I hope there's a sequel because I'd love to follow the characters and see what happens next!
