Can they defeat the curse?
The Characters
We have a lot of characters that like to take center stage and tell their side of the story. They have their own chapters that go with what we learned from the last one. I'm still wrapping my head around Boone as a character himself. He's a different character, and the one tasked to stop the curse. That in itself lies within reading the story. All the characters that the author showcased had a reason to have their own chapter like they told their story and how they got to that point. Living in this small town of Velvet and being an HSP (highly sensitive person) would be excruciating, especially after the last eighteen years with the curse that the town has on it.
The Town
The town is called Velvet, Arizona, and itself is its own character. Everyone knows each other which is great since you have a sense of belonging in a community despite how nosy a small town is with everyone knowing your business. In a way, I think the town is protecting its residents by having these HSPs living among them. That might be a reach for me to think that but every road so far has led back to Velvet, Arizona for some people. Maybe hopefully, Velvet will be at peace within its own community one of these days.
Four Stars
Welcome to Velvet, AZ by Sherry Rossman is a unique book. I am giving it four stars. This story is my first book by this author and she is a good writer from what I've read of this book. Ms. Rossman definitely has a uniqueness in the way she brings her faith into play in her stories. I am not too certain after finishing this if they did ever truly stop the curse. However, it was a fun, thrilling, and adventurous ride.
