The writing is poor, but the message is important and makes the book worth the read. About the life of 19-year-old Ivy League student Madison Holleran, a track athlete who ended her life by leaping off the roof of a parking garage, this book attempts to explain the pressures young people face at university and college. There is a particular emphasis on how well Madison was able to disguise the depth of her anguish through her Instagram account (which her family has left up) and conversations held via text message instead of in person. This is a heartbreaking story and it’ll give you a lot to think about.
