Punishing Portia is part of the Masters of the Castle series by Darling Adams. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.
David Marone is the owner of head chef of a well-known restaurant in town. When he visited by a well-known, and respected food critic, the review that follows leaves him very upset and mad. David is set to go on vacation to the Castle during New Years and when he see Portia, he decides a little punishment for the review is in order.
Portia Sands is a well-known food critic. She goes to the castle to be part of the slave auction to get a better feel for BDSM and because she could not afford the regular entry price. Portia comes across as a woman who is just finding herself but still unsure of what she can do.
The connection between Portia and David is blistering. They make a great pair together because no matter how much David pushed her limits she enjoyed every second. When David pushes her past her limits, he is quick to apologize and make things right. The sex scenes were explosive.
I found this book well written with an interesting plot. The main characters and the secondary characters were fascinating. While the ending was a little predictable, the journey the book takes the reader is gripping with several unanticipated twists and turns. I had a hard time putting this book down. Overall, this was a very captivating book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
