In a nutshell... I LOVED it. Let me say though, that I am a huge fan of this author and this series and I have been anxiously awaiting Levi's book. The wait was almost too much for me and I needed my Paint River fix.
It was totally worth the wait!!! Carrie and Levi have an incredible connection with each other that dates back to their childhood. Levi, broke Carrie's heart when he left Paint River, but he had good reasons and frankly, Carrie needed to get out of Paint River for her health. When Carrie comes back to visit her father and their farm, the connection between she and Levi is still very much alive and cracklin'. (This would be where I'd insert a super sexy excerpt or quote, so use your imagination) Let me just say that the scene when Carrie first comes back to town and goes to a local bar is hilarious. Ms. Otto's humor is one of the reasons why I love her books. She combines the sexy and the funny so very well. I love the Heywood brothers when they get together and there is a drinking scene that is hilarious. It is not to be missed.
Levi really is the perfect match for Carrie. He has known her almost all of her life and he understands her medical condition ( a diabetic condition) and what she needs. She grew up with her father making decisions for her and she values her independence despite the difficulties that her diabetes creates for her and her future.
Levi has his own physical challenges after being injured while deployed and he has adapted himself and his physical activity in response to the injuries to his leg. The man has a very physical job, riding horses and working the farm and his legs get sore. Luckily, Carrie has some massage experience and is able to offer him some relief...lucky guy.
Carrie and Levi both have personal issues and they both have the ability to help each other, it's a matter of accepting the help. Not to mention how much these two love each other. Holy moly. (Insert another sweet/sexy quote here) Anyhoo, I really enjoyed this book and I'd love to read more from this series. My fingers are crossed for another Paint River book!
