Drawn to Him brings together a collaboration of hot romance authors to give you 8 novellas about the hot alphas we just can't resist!
I decided to start with A. Zavarelli's story, Bad Cop. Its a bit small town romance, a bit second chance love story. Ginger is not a very likable character. The town hates her, and she wasn't kind to the hero, Justice, when they were teens either. She let her friends bully him and never defended their friendship. 10 years have passed and Justice, now the town sheriff and military hero, is the one on the pedestal and Ginger has come back to town with not a penny to her name and ruined reputation. Their story was interesting but these two are frustrating! I wanted Ginger to explain herself and I wanted Justice to stop being so immature. Then you throw in Ginger's ex who is a crazy fucker, and things get interesting. For me, this was a solid 4 star story.
So, I skipped Fifth Avenue Blues by Jade West because a friend who LOVES smutty erotica said she felt it was a bit much for her. Y'all, can you imagine me reading it? No. It would be a disaster. I love some smut, but I am pretty vanilla. Thanks for the heads on this one to everyone who warned me :)
Next I decided to try Infatuation by Willow Winters because I love me a good insta-love Alexa Riley-ish story. I know not everyone devours these like I do, but I like what I like! This story started out with promise. I liked the mystery of why Alec seemingly lured Lila to the island and what secrets was he hiding. But then, the story just ended. I mean, literally just ended. No real answers, no real HEA (because it was all kind of up in the air in my opinion! He didn't even know if she would end up staying on the island long term!). So, for that alone, this story was 3 stars (4 stars for most of the story, then 2 stars for the terrible end!
I didn't read Malfeasance by K. Webster because her books make me uncomfortable. Like her 'taboo' stuff just creeps me out and gives me the heebie-jeebies. I'm sure not all her books are like that, but I'm trigger shy when it comes to her and will probably never read another one of her books.
Dr. Dreamy had me thinking of Grey's Anatomy the whole time, except it would be the version of Grey's if HBO produced it. HAWT. If you like your heroes on the alpha-hole side, get ready to love Dr. Matthews. This was my first LJ Shen story as well and I enjoyed her style. 4 stars!
Overall, the stories were short, sexy, and easy to devour in an hour or so! Perfect for a 'palate cleanser' between longer books! I read one story from this anthology in between each regular novel I read and it was great! I loved the quick pace and simple plot to give me something just enjoyable that didn't require me to be emotional or deep!
Other romance anthologies like Royally Mine, Alphas of Danger...then you will probably like Drawn to Him!
