The TARDIS is en route to Agelaos, a planet next to a wormhole whose population is psychic, when the Doctor and Martha receive a warning signal to stay away. They soon discover they should have heeded the warning, for moments after arriving, they are hunted by a pack of savage, wailing creatures. Rescue comes in the form of an old man named Waechter, who tells them he is the last human left on the planet - and he needs the Doctor’s help... Taken from the BBC book The Story of Martha, by Dan Abnett, ‘The Weeping’ is one of four short stories - adventures Martha Jones had with the Doctor that we have never heard before. For a year, while the Master ruled over Earth, Martha Jones travelled the world telling people stories about the Doctor to inspire them and ultimately save them, and this is one of those tales. It is told to a little girl named Aleesha, who is on the run and frightened.
