Former leader of the Labour Party on his life-long campaign against imperialism

Jeremy Corbyn has been at the front line of the international anti-war movement for his whole life. When he became leader of the Labour Party in 2015 this was at the heart of his political revolution, and the focus of much of the mainstream attacks on his policies. Yet he never wavered from his beliefs. In Wars and Peace, he brings a life time's experience of protest to bear in a passionate denunciation of 21st century empire.

The book focuses in particular on the wars of the current century: from the post 9-11 invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, to his principled stand against intervention in Syria and Libya and the current stand off with Iran. But he also looks at the deeper roots of the world's divisions, recalling his involvement in the opposition to dictatorships in Latin America, the fall of the apartheid regime and the on-going suppression of the Palestinian people by Israel. Finally he pus forward what a progressive foreign policy might look like; one that acknowledges the damages of empire, and places justice and freedom at the heart of Britain's engagement with the rest of the world.
