From year to year, school orchestras are limited by the number and level of instrumentalists. The music teacher has to choose orchestrations accordingly for the orchestra at hand. Most schools have an abundance of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion players, but violas, second oboe, second bassoon, third and fourth horns are rare. Other instruments such as the piccolo, English horn, bass clarinet, celesta and harp may also be lacking. With this in mind, the six short pieces in this book were orchestrated for a variety of commonly found ensembles with full-scores for the conductor and parts for each individual instrument.
