This report identifies the attitudes and perceptions of construction industry workers from the UK towards the use of Biometric Access Controls Systems. A literature review is conducted that produces an in-depth critical investigation of the present systems and current methods in use, ascertaining the various benefits and disadvantages. Case studies are then examined where such technology is being used, and highlights the benefits these systems provide. An investigation is undertaken in two forms. Firstly, a questionnaire that interviewed the site management team. Secondly, a semi-structured interview, that gathered the opinions from tradesmen. The results highlighted that the majority of the management team supported the use of Biometric Access Control Systems and would use them on future projects. Whereas, the majority of the tradesmen had genuine resistance to embrace the technology. Further analysis provides an understanding as to why such resistance exists.
