Hardwearing yet beautiful, notable for its eye-catching designs and use of coloured thread, Russian lace is now being brought to the attention of lacemakers in the West. This book includes both traditional Russian patterns and patterns designed by the author in the Russian style, with 35 patterns of window and dress decorations, mats, tablecloths and centres, collars and cuffs. Brief working instructions are given for all the patterns in English, Dutch, French and German and each is illustrated with a photograph of the finished piece, plus a detailed diagram showing the stitches used and the position of the ribbon tape, a major feature of Russian lace. A pricking is also included. Other enlarged diagrams highlight individual sections of the pattern requiring extra care.
