Jan Branch is a local lady with a mission - she wants to talk to people about their childhood, and record the interviews for her to use on her radio programme. Unfortunately, everybody in Salford only wants to talk about one thing - the robbery of gold bullion from Salford Docks back in 1966. Jan is no detective, but her friend Melia is. Amelia Hartliss, known to her friends as 'Heartless', is a secret agent and operative for British Security. Right now she is busy with orders to try and recruit young people into the service, but Jan Branch is her friend, and when Jan gets threatened - and someone gets killed - Melia swings into action. Melia tries her best, but she isn't from round there, and doesn't know her local history. She is forced to listen to everyone else - and they all have a different story. How can she sort the fact from the fiction. But that's what necessary, or someone else is going to get hurt, and Melia won't tolerate that.
