I pretty much adored Lydia. She's a journalist and she's out to save those who cannot save themselves. The Last Hellion has her rescuing Tamsin from being sold as a prostitute, and then helping the girl track down the jewels that she inherited. This of course brings Lydia into a much larger crime scene than she anticipated, and she winds up dragging Ainswood down with her since the blasted man keeps interrupting and ruining her investigations! To say the two bump heads would be an understatement, but Lydia will let no man get in her way! Even if he is devilishly handsome and pushes her right back.
The Last Hellion did lose me a bit toward the end. There was a bit too much going on and it just didn't interest me. But it did pick up again when we started learning more about Lydia's parentage. I love family secrets! Overall it was definitely a good read and held my attention almost to the end. Ainswood and Lydia make a wonderful couple, and their epilogue was hilariously adorable.
