This catalogue shows a select sample of works from the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection, a result of the personal involvement of its founder, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, whose vision and drive to discover young contemporary artists dates back to the 1990s, with the aim of showcasing them to an increasingly wider audience. The book features 124 of the most important and representative works of the Collection, produced by nearly 70 artists and depicting different expressions of art. As Francesco Bonami, the Artistic Director of the Collection and curator of this exhibition, has stressed in his text, the title of the original exhibition, Spirit and Space, is inspired by the work of El Greco, where, according to Bonami, these two artistic aspects prevail and which in turn shape much of contemporary art.
