'Enterprise governance' is an inclusive framework, which constitutes the entire accountability framework of the organisation. There are two dimensions of enterprise governance, conformance and performance. At the heart of enterprise governance is the argument that good corporate governance on its own cannot make a company successful. In the light of major corporate failures, "Enterprise Governance - Strategic Oversight" does not pretend to provide a guaranteed formula for business success. However, it does present a useful tool in the form of the Strategic Scorecard to address, what has proved to be a problematic area for companies (that is effective strategic oversight) and suggests that greater attention to strategic oversight, will go some way towards ensuring effective conformance and performance. "Enterprise Governance - Strategic Oversight" builds on initial project work, which was undertaken by the Professional Accountants in Business Committee (PAIB) of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) of which, CIMA played a leading role.
