The worker-photography movement remains a difficult, still-pending chapter in the history of photography, a kind of 'missing link' in our understanding of how photographic modernism evolved over the course of the 20th century. This book and accompanying exhibition is intended to rectify this shortcoming, by recognising the central role the movement played in the photographic debates occurring between the wars. The book is divided into different sections which covers the movement of nine countries such as Russia, Germany, France, Spain or USA. This edition includes images of Eugene Atget, Edward Weston, Aaron Siskind, Paul Strand or John Heartfield.
